The Majlis economic model

Efficiency should create firm value, not simply fewer recorded hours.

Majlis does not replace lawyer judgment or eliminate legitimate legal work. It removes administrative drag, helps protect recoverable revenue, strengthens compliance and helps firms turn lawyer capacity into more profitable client service.

Operating principle

Every efficiency gain should have an economic destination.

Administrative drag removed Capacity released Capacity directed Firm value created
Where released capacity can go
01

Lower delivery cost

Reduce the administrative and repetitive effort required to move matters forward.

02

Additional matter capacity

Use released lawyer time to serve more clients or take on more complex work.

03

Improved client value

Respond faster, communicate more clearly and deliver with greater predictability.

04

Reduced risk

Embed review, permissions, compliance and auditability into the work itself.

05

Higher-quality legal judgment

Move lawyer attention from searching, formatting and coordination towards analysis, strategy and advice.

Time saved is not the final outcome. What the firm does with that capacity is.

The systems around legal work

Legal work is connected. The systems around it are not.

A single matter can move across email, shared drives, personal notes, calendars, billing tools, and message threads. Context fragments. Ownership becomes unclear. Controls appear late. AI output sits outside the workflow that makes legal work defensible.

Scattered matter context

Instructions, documents, deadlines, and decisions live in different places.

Review hidden in messages

Ownership and approval are difficult to see and even harder to reconstruct.

Controls applied too late

Compliance is checked after the work instead of being embedded where the work happens.

Commercial signals after the fact

Scope, effort, budget pressure, and write-offs often become visible only when intervention is difficult.

Matter-centred by design

Put the matter back at the centre.

Majlis gives every important document, task, proposal, decision, deadline, obligation, approval, and audit event a defined relationship to the matter.

The result is a clearer operating view of what the firm knows, what must happen next, who is responsible, and what evidence supports the final action.

01

Use approved sources

The system works from the documents and matter context it is authorised to access.

02

Prepare a proposal

AI may identify, extract, compare, draft, recommend, or flag.

03

Show the evidence

The reviewer can inspect the source, assumptions, and relevant context.

04

Route to the responsible lawyer

Ownership and required review are explicit.

05

Record the decision

Changes, approval, rejection, and overrides remain attributable.

06

Preserve the audit history

The firm can reconstruct what happened later.

Majlis does not independently approve legal advice, fabricate billable time, waive a control, or send consequential communications without authority.

Data control

Your firm’s data should remain under your firm’s control.

Legal work depends on confidential documents, privileged communications, client instructions and institutional knowledge. Majlis is designed to keep access connected to the firm, the matter, the user’s role and the authorised workflow, while preserving evidence of how information was used.

Connect legal delivery to commercial performance.

Understand matter economics while there is still time to act. Majlis is being designed to help firms see how scope, staffing, effort, pricing, revenue and risk interact while a matter is still active, not only after the invoice or matter closeout.

Matter Profitability

Bring approved commercial terms, budgets, delivery cost, WIP, billed and collected amounts, and forecast outcome into one matter-level view.

Revenue Protection

Help protect recoverable revenue by surfacing potential scope leakage, fee-cap pressure, stale WIP, rate errors, missed expenses and billing-rule risks without manufacturing billable activity.

Pricing Intelligence

Use structured scope, complexity, staffing assumptions, comparable matters, and estimate-versus-actual outcomes to support more informed pricing decisions.

Direct answers

The questions firms ask first.

Does Majlis replace lawyers?

No. Majlis can organise information, identify issues, prepare drafts, and propose actions. Lawyers remain responsible for legal judgment, approval, and client advice.

How does Majlis create value if our firm bills by the hour?

Majlis does not treat fewer recorded hours as the only measure of value. It is designed to reduce administrative drag, improve matter capacity, support legitimate revenue capture, reduce avoidable write-offs and direct lawyer time towards higher-value legal work. The economic benefit depends on how the firm redeploys the capacity and information Majlis helps create.

Does Majlis replace our billing or accounting system?

No. Majlis is intended to connect matter delivery to commercial information and controls. It should integrate with existing practice-management, billing, and accounting systems rather than replace the general ledger, trust accounting, payroll, or collections infrastructure.

How can we trust AI-assisted work?

Majlis keeps AI proposals connected to approved sources, permissions, required review, human decisions, and audit history. The responsible lawyer remains in control of the final action.
